A bunch of us was talking about the establishment of this forum earlier today! (thanks silvy <3)
We were thinking that it might be awesome to have our own database here
So we can know who owns what etc

Either we separate it by company or owner (or both lol)
I guess we can do it by mold but there's not many of us... yet *_*;

I think a mold one would be nice, although truthfully we do have DoA's much more extensive list. I don't know; I think it'd still be nice to see our local ones!

But a human one would be nice, because I'm sure we're all actually quite KPC inside heauehaueha. Also, a more detailed profile page please?! ♥

I've been doing some thinking myself after Aki suggested this to me earlier. The best I can think of for now is to create a new forum category and You can post your database in there. This will be just like DoA's BJD database I suppose?

I'm sure we can all view each other's profiles with a click of a button, but any suggestions as to how to structure a new category meant for BJD owners, I'm all ears

This database idea has to be given some thought first cause I don't really know how to organize a full extensive list of us all for the time being x_X;

But if we really are going to have an owner database too (as in database of owner and what dolls she/he has), then this database category might need two sub forums? o_o

There's no field for us to fill in in our profile but I'm sure you can tweak that, right?

Okay I think that's about it for now in regards to the profiling.

What I have modified so far:

- "My BJD Family" textbox has been added
- "My Wishlist" texbox has been added
- "Expertise" textbox has been added. This bit is purely optional; it allows other members to view what are your expertise i.e. tailoring, aesthetics, etc

Also, please note that all text boxes have a character count limit of 1000. Reason being so is so that...it doesn't get too lengthy in the end ^^;

So far I think all the categories are very well planned and easy to read; which is good cos I'm really slow at navigating XD

Well, we can always do 2 ways on the Database. As stated, we can go by 2 subforum: By User and By Company.

Assuming it'll be similar to DoA, as in there will be a sticky thread who shows quick link to specific thread, the best way is to just arrange in alphabet order (Eg: A-G, H-N, O-Z).

Personally, seeming how small our community will be, I won't recommend arranging through sculpt. In my opinion, just going by size will be good enough (Eg: Volks SD, Volks MSD, Volks FCS).

Tell you guys what, how about this?

I'll create a sticky thread database that will replicate exactly like what we have on our Livejournal Community. This sticky thread will be under Global Announcement, similar as to the Marketplace Rules. That way it'll be there no matter which sub-forum you're at. Is that ok?

And I somewhat agree with Hera.

Perhaps for now I shall create a category:
BJD DATABASE

And its respective sub-forums will be:
- SD
- MSD
- Yo-SD
- Odd sizes

So everyone can fill up the databse with a specific sculpt/company there onwards?

The thing is, for each sub-forum, do we create the database based on Company (e.g. Volks, Dollzone) or sculpt (e.g. DoD Bee-A, Kid Delf Luts Bory)?

Any thoughts?

Sub-forums by sizes are good!
But I rather the threads to go by companies! XDD

Sounds good to me. And oh, should add in 70cm as a size too, else SD will be too crowded ;D

I quite like this idea! At least it's slightly more organised this way, as opposed to just company SD/ MSD/ YoSD.

Noted and will arrange this when I have the time!

If anyone has time to spare, do help me list down the doll companies (and the doll sizes they cater for)? This is mainly for a sticky thread for easy reference in the sub-forum, but anyone's free to open a new database thread there


EDIT: I've created the Database section, so feel free to add in the companies in there. I'll compile the list and "Sticky" it later on

I'd like to suggest that we split the database into something like DOA here:

Because at the moment, technically none of my dolls are "SD" because all of them are 60cm++
I think most SDs nowadays are 63-70cm anyways o_o

Also, Minoruworlds and the dolls inbetween YoSD and MSD sizes have no place to go!

How about if I amend a couple of the sub-forums to these instead:

Larger - 71cm above
SD - 55-70cm
MSD - 40-49vm
Yo-SD - 26-39cm
Tiny - below 25cm

This would allow the irregular sized dolls to be categorized under MSD or Yo-SD (technically) so do you think that would help to create a clearer database for all?
